William Howard Tennant, Jr.

William Howard "Pop" Tennant Jr. was born June 1, 1964, to the late Ada Sellers Tennant and William Howard Tennant, Sr.

William joined Rock Hill A.M.E Church and accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Saviour at an early age. He graduated from Holly Hill Robert's High School in 1982. Upon graduation "Pop" moved to South Miami, Florida where he resided until 2022. He pursued a career at Publix Supermarket. In addition, he pursued his passion for cooking and worked as a chef at Koola Bre, TGI Fridays, Dan Mario Restaurant, Monty Restaurant and Big Pink Restaurant. Moreover, he gained experience as a Security Officer and eventually ended his career at the Salvation Army, where he worked as a driver and warehouse supervisor. 

William was a born again Christian. His faith was tried and true in God. He had a charismatic spirit. If you met "Pop" then you were his friend. He loved to cook and he loved to tell jokes. 

Pop was called home and began his eternal life on Friday, March 29, 2024, at the MUSC Health Columbia Medical Center, Columbia, SC. 

Although he is sadly gone, his legacy will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew him. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister Sheila Tennant Middleton.

Pop leaves loving memories and love lives on in the hearts of his two sisters: Jacqueline T. (Rick) Davis of Cross, SC, and Aretha T. (Harold) Ballen of Upper Marlboro, MD; Brother-in-law: Tracy Middleton of Columbia, SC; special friend: Barbara Watson of Holly Hill, SC; four nephews: Lamar T. Middleton of Charlotte, NC, Joshua Bush and Trey Ballen of Upper Marlboro, MD and Cameron Davis of Cross, SC and one niece: Lauren Young of Upper Marlboro, MD and a host of cousins, relatives and friends.
