Mother Martha "Mae" Patterson the daughter of the late Henry President and the late Henretta S. President Collier of North Charleston South Carolina, was born on October 8, 1935.
Martha was educated in the Cross Community at Zion School. She accepted Christ at an early age and joined Zion UM Church, She moved to Charleston but later reconnected with her home church of Zion when she moved back home. Mae as she was affectionately called was full of life, she loved her family and friends, she was always laughing, smiling and was the life of all the parties. Mae did not meet a stranger and welcomed everyone. She loved cooking, spending time with her family and friends. She believed in expressing herself and encouraging others to do the same.
Martha was joined in Holy Matrimony in 1951 to Walter (Bubba) Patterson who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by two siblings Charles President Sr., Fannystein Green and one daughter Elizabeth President.
Mother Martha "Mae" Patterson gained her wings on March 17, 2024 at Trident Reginal Medical Center in North Charleston, South Carolina.
She leaves to cherish her memory; Her daughters, Elizabeth Ann (Josiah Marion) Howard Sr, a Sister in law, Kissiah Greene, who was raised as a daughter both of Cross, SC: Lillie Mack of North Charleston, SC and Jackie (Bernard) Ferguson of Cross, SC; two sons: Kenneth (Barbara) Patterson of Petersburg, VA and Andrew Mack of Charleston, SC; grandchildren: Virginia (Anthony) Singleton of Cross, SC, Gwendolyn (Roxann) Howard of Ft. Washington, Maryland, both who were raised in the home, Patrick Howard of Austin, TX, Keshia Howard (James) McCleave of Rock Hill, SC, Josiah "Boo" (Tiffany) Howard of San Antonio, TX, Constance Patterson, Tametria Johnson, Eric Ravenell, Derrick Hall, Kenneth McClary, Kenneth Patterson Jr., Andrew Tony Mack of Cross, SC, Mona Lisa Mack of Summerville, Tony Mack of Charleston SC, Kari (Yolanda) Ferguson of San Antonio, TX, Tiffany Ferguson of Prince Charles, VA, Corey (Winnie) Ferguson; one uncle: Thomas West of Orangeburg SC, a great grandson: Darrell Mack of Bronx NY, and a grandniece: Amiyah Oliver of Cross, SC, both of whom were raised in the home; nieces and nephews raised as grandchildren: Michelle Oliver, Rana Dibba, Adline Greene all of Cross, SC, Wade Green of Atlanta, GA and a host of other nieces, nephews, family members and friends.
