William Rogers Myers was born on November 5, 1932, in Holly Hill, South Carolina to the late Mr. Jake and Ola Little Myers. He transitioned from this life to eternity on February 8, 2024. William met and later married Catherine Jenkins-Myers on December 28th 1952. To this union six children were born.
William attended Orangeburg Public Schools. He became a member of Lovely Hill Baptist Church at an early age. Later, he joined Liberty Hill Missionary Baptist Church, where he served
as a Church Trustee and was an active member of the Male Chorus and Senior Choir. Upon completing his education, William enlisted in the United States Air Force. During his
military service, he was deployed to Italy, Germany, and Turkey, he returned home and secured a position at the Charleston Air Force Base. Later, he transferred to the Charleston Navy Base,
where he ultimately retired. Additionally, William served in the National Guard Army, where he also retired.
During his leisure hours, William found joy in activities such as fishing, gardening and watching Old Westerns. Baseball held a special place in his heart - he served as the baseball manager
for the Holly Hill Mets alongside Mrs. Ollie Mitchell. Remarkably, their team became the first black team in the community to wear uniforms. Additionally, he cherished spending quality time
with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Preceding him in death were his siblings: Frank Little, Mae Belle Wilson, James Wilson, Elise Montgomery, and Mary Benjamin, as well as his grandson Maurice D. Harmon.
Those who will forever cherish his memories include his loving and devoted wife, Catherine Jenkins Myers; Children: Vincent (Adriene) Myers of Durham, NC, Wade Myers of Holly Hill,
SC, Cathy Brown of Santee, SC, Ricky (Richardine) Myers of Jonesboro, GA, William Anthony Myers of Holly Hill, SC, and Lori (Donald) Harmon of Elloree, SC; along with 28 grandchildren,
43 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild. He is also survived by sisters-in-law: Georgia M. Griffin of Holly Hill, SC, and Beatrice Davis of Eutawville, SC, along with a host of
relatives and friends who will dearly miss him. Special mention to his caregiver, Kimberly Schocker, who provided dedicated support during his later months.
