Mr. Will (Bird) Williams, son of the late Elnora Miller and Julius Williams (Earthalee) born on October 19, 1948 of Vance, SC. On Sunday May 3, 2020, God sent His angel to his place of residence with his wife, sons and family by his side.
Mr. Williams received his education at Holly Hill Roberts High School in Holly Hill, SC. He also attended Fashion Institution of Technology in New York, NY. He was a member of Rock Hill AME Church in Vance, SC. He was a sergeant on the Starrett City Police Force for 15 years. He returned to Vance, SC, in 1990 and was the Chief of Police for Vance, SC. He then worked at Albermarle Corp in Orangeburg, SC, for 15 years. He also, in his spare time, would drive for Orangeburg Disabilities Special Board. In the mist of all that, he started his own lawn care business, which was his passion.
Bird, as he was affectionately called, was a family man. He loved spending time with his wife, sons, and grandchildren. He was always there to lend a helping hand as well as a mentor to anyone when needed. He enjoyed going to drag races on Sunday afternoons in Dorchester, SC.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, James Jamison and one sister, Mamie Ruth Guess.
Mr. Williams who was loved by many, leaves to cherish his most precious memories: his loving and devoted wife, Gwendolyn Williams; children: Basheer “Sean” Williams (Malakah), Brian Williams (Sindi), Johnny Hill (Veetland), Steven Hill and Belinda Hill; brothers: Johnny Williams of Vance, SC, Willie Lee Williams of Vance, SC, and Reedy Williams of Columbia, SC; sisters: Maude Asbury (Robert) of Vance, SC, Louise Williams of Vance, SC, and Marie Wright, of Atlanta, GA; sister-in-law, Gussie of Vance, SC; grandchildren: Xavier, Edgar, Jazzmyn, E’Jaaz, Kiana, Ziya, Deshane, Marlin, Candace, Mahogany, Monet, Tanner, and Brandi; 11 great grand-children; and a host of nieces, nephews, close relatives and friends.
