Ward Daniel “Bo Dilly” Smith was born on May 9, 1958, to the late Sam Sr. and Susan Smith in Orangeburg County, South Carolina. He attended the public schools of Orangeburg and proudly graduated from Roberts High School. Over the years, he worked in various jobs, always with dedication and a kind heart.
On April 1, 2025, “Bo Dilly” was called from labor to reward at Richland Memorial Hospital in Columbia, SC. He is preceded in death by his parents, five brothers—Herman, Calvin, Edfield, Sam Jr., Vernon Smith—and a beloved sister-in-law, Pearl Smith.
He leaves behind cherished memories with his daughter, Jasmine Smith of Santee, SC, and his son, Daniel Kuron (Heather) Smith of Elloree, SC. His precious granddaughter, Lauren Amiya Brown, affectionately called "Rabbitt," held a special place in his heart. He is also survived by his brother, Furman (Eartha) Smith; two sisters, Louise Clark and Virginia Earline Smith of Orangeburg; three aunts; and a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family members who loved him dearly. In addition, he leaves behind two devoted sisters-in-law, Blondell Smith and Mary Ann Smith, both of Santee, SC.
Bo Dilly’s life touched many, and his memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
