Viola E. Holmes Richardson, daughter of the late Joseph Holmes and Ida Prioleau Holmes, was born September 24, 1922 in Mt. Holly, South Carolina.
She was reared in Cross, SC at 2 and was loved and cared for by her grandparents Dennis and Sophie Jefferson Prioleau until their death.
At the age of 12 she was loved and cared for by her aunt and uncle, Mariah Prioleau Johnson and Edward Johnson, Sr.
She accepted Jesus Christ as her savior and became a member of Zion Methodist Church.
In 1940, she met and married the love of her life. Samuel Richardson and became a member of Silas United Methodist Church. To this union they were blessed with fifteen children, four proceeded her in death, Joel Richardson, Ida Mae Brown, Robert Lee Richardson and Daniel Richardson; one grandson Jermaine Pinckney and one great-grand Kenneth A. Hawkins.
Those left to cherish her memories are four daughters; Pearl Johnson, Ernell (James) Dingle, Lucille (Leroy) Pinckney, and Jayne (Kirk) Prescott; seven sons; Samuel (Diane) Richardson, Harry Richardson, James (Kaye) Richardson, Paul (Elizabeth) Richardson, Jerome Richardson, Lawrence Richardson and Richard Richardson; two daughters-in-law; Beryl Richardson and Vivian Richardson; one brother; Grayland Holmes; three nieces; Vivian (James) Lee, Rosa (Richard) White, and Joann Holmes; a very special cousin; Edward Tee Moe (Pauline) Johnson; thirty-eight grands, sixty-nine great-grands; thirty-four great-great grands; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and neighbors.
Viola was very knowledgeable of family history and genealogy. She was our go to person for family connection, her wisdom and memory was awesome. She know the connection to so many families.She always cared about what was going on in the lives of her children, grandchildren, great-grands, and great-great grands, no matter how old or young they are.
