On Saturday, July 30, 2022, we celebrate the life of Mr. Travis Lamont Cason, Sr. Travis was born April 7, 1979, in Washington, DC, to the late Edward Felix Cason, Sr. and the late Shirley Ann Walker-Cason.
At a very young age his family moved to Holly Hill, SC, where he was reared in the home of his maternal grandmother, the late Eva Lee Williams. He grew up and attended Orangeburg County School District in Holly Hill, SC. Following high school, he attended Job Corps and received certifications in Carpentry and Construction.
Travis joined Lovely Hill Baptist Church under the spiritual leadership of Pastor W. J. Frierson, Sr. and Brother Travis was a member of Briner Lodge #365.
Travis was hardworking with a vast background when it came to employment. He worked in construction and carpentry; he was a certified diesel mechanic and a truck driver. Travis was employed with Southeastern Galleries in Charleston, SC, as a household transporter for over ten years. He always expressed a desire to one day be employed at Giant Cement Plant in Harleyville, SC; his wish was fulfilled in November of 2021. Travis was proud of his new opportunity. He was devoted, dedicated, and committed as he provided for his family. With his warm smile, he would tell others that this was his retirement job.
Travis loved his family unconditionally and loved spending time with them, especially his sons. He was a devoted husband, father, brother, uncle, cousin, coach, and loyal friend. Travis' vibrant smile touched the lives of everyone he met, for he never met a stranger. He was a gentle giant with a heart that gave unselfishly; to know him was to love and adore him. There was nothing that he would not do to help others, from offering kind words of encouragement, giving a place to stay, attending father-daughter dances with his friends' children, to coaching Holly Hill Youth Sports, spending time with and babysitting, not only his sons, but his nieces and nephews. To his family and friends, Travis was the #1 GRILL MASTER; his saying was, "If you have to boil the meat, you don't know how to grill."
Travis was preceded in death by: his parents, Edward Felix Cason, Sr and Shirley Ann Walker-Cason; maternal grandmother: Eva Lee Williams; and mother-in-law: Faye Laverne Howard-Frost.
He leaves to cherish his loving memories, his wife: Tiffany, of the home; his pride and joy, his four sons: Nayvontay Cason of Holly Hill, SC, Travis Cason, Jr., Torres Cason, and Torvares Cason, all of the home; one granddaughter: Ne'Veyah Cason of Holly Hill, SC; one sister Jashay Cason of Holly Hill, SC; one brother: Edward (Destiny) Felix Cason, Jr., of Holly Hill, SC; step-father: George Jenkins of Eutawville, SC; father-in-law: Douglas (Barbara) Frost, of Summerville, SC; one brother-in-law: Mario Fuller of Palm Beach, FL; four nieces Quiaja Cason, Alexus Cason, E'Myiah Cason, and Jade Green, all of Holly Hill, SC; two nephews: Donjae (Antonesha) Cason, Sr. and Edward Felix Cason, III, both of Holly Hill, SC; two great-grand nephews: Donjae Cason, Jr. and Jayce Cason, both of Holly Hill, SC; two God-sons: Jaylin Evans and Xzavier Summerson, both of Holly Hill, SC; a very special friend, whom he considered his little sister, Alissa Weldon of Holly Hill, SC; and a host of uncles, aunts, family, and friends who will miss him dearly.
