Mr. Terry Davin Davis, a son of the late Deacon Samuel Davis, Sr. and Deaconess Mary Elizabeth Davis, was born on February 29, 1964, in Washington, DC. On Saturday morning, March 26, 2022, at approximately 12:30 am, God whispered a request to have His faithful servant to be with Him. With his wife, LaShasta, at his bedside, Terry made a peaceful transition to spend eternal bliss with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Terry was educated in the Washington DC private (Assumption Catholic School) and Prince Georges, Maryland public schools. He graduated in 1982 from the Potomac High School, Oxon Hill, Maryland.
Terry was briefly employed by the U.S. Department of Commerce’s, National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, as an Editorial Assistant. He changed his career path and ventured into the retail industry working in large retail organizations to include Cole Hahn shoes, bags, and accessories, Hartmann luggage, and Ralph Lauren. In these positions, he found his passion and was recognized as a top salesperson.
Terry was raised in the admonition of the Lord and became a member of the Enon Baptist Church, Washington, DC, at an early age. He served in many Enon ministries. Terry also had a melodious singing voice, a talent that was inherited from his Dad, the late Deacon Samuel Davis, Sr. He was a long-time member of the L. A. Family of District Heights, MD. This group is known and traveled throughout the Washington DC area singing the gospel and spread the good news of Jesus Christ.
In October 2015, he was joined in holy matrimony to the former LaShasta Smith.
In the spring of 2018, upon her retirement from the U. S. Air Force, Terry and LaShasta decided to relocate from Suitland, Maryland to Columbia, South Carolina. They were able to purchase a beautiful retirement home in a lake community.
Terry had a thorn to bear, and it came in the form of prostate cancer. He suffered with this disease for 12 years. Throughout his illness and for many years, he endured many medical challenges. His health continued to decline and was placed in hospice care on February 10, 2022.
He leaves his memories to his devoted wife and caretaker, LaShasta; his daughter, Minister Terri Keys and grandson, Aiden, Oxon Hill, MD; two brothers, Deacon Samuel Davis, Jr (Jacqueline), Hyattsville, MD/Charlotte, NC and Melvin Davis, Washington, DC; mother-in-law, Mary Ann Smith; sisters-in-law: Denise Clark, Anikia Robinson, Syreeta Smith, Sharhonda Smith; nieces/nephews: Chelsea Blanks, Jarrod Davis, Easton Blanks, Trimease Irby (Maurice), Lakevia Smith, Kennerly Smith, Kayley McFadden, Autumn Taste, Maxierre Irby; grand-cousins, Delores Heyward and Frank and Eva White; two sister-cousins, Gloria Walker and Darlene Nedab (Douglas); dear cousins, Tyrone Sellars and Amy Garcia; numerous other cousins; and a host of extended family and friends.
