Sorel D. Mazyck, 55, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, September 14,2023. She was born to Barbara D. Daniels and Douglas Dempsey Sr, on July 11, 1968, in Boston, MA.
Sorel lived her early life in Boston, MA. Sorel attended the Refuge Church of Our Lord Jesus Christ, in Roxbury, MA, under the leadership of the late Apostle Theodore Hester. She received the precious gift of the Holy Ghost at the age of 13. Sorel graduated from Lexington High School. Shortly after graduation, she obtained her Cosmetology degree and her CNA license. Sorel was a very vibrant person, well known and loved by many while living in Boston, MA.
Sorel moved to South Carolina in 1994, where she met and married Isiah R. Mazyck on March 30, 1997. This union was blessed with 3 children.
Sorel was employed for six years by Lil’ Angels Daycare, she worked as a caregiver for many elderly clients. Sorel was employed by Robert Bosch and various beauty hair establishments. She was also employed by TWIG Plant Nursery.
Sorel was a member of Word in Life Outreach Ministry in Summerville, SC where she served on the choir. She loved serving her Pastor and First Lady (Apostle Dr. Robert and Dr. Kathy Vandross), and anyone who was a servant of God. Sorel was ordained in ministry, and she loved God. She was known as a great supporter of local pastors and ministries. Sorel had many gifts. Her gifting was evident as she used her CNA license to care for many who were physically unable to care for themselves.
Sorel, better known as “Rellie, Porkchop, Chunky, Serena and Syrup”, was loveable and loved her family and friends. She had the gift of encouragement, the gift to serve, the gift to make others laugh, and the gift of gab. Sorel had the ability to make others feel loved, appreciated, and supported. Sorel had a green thumb and enjoyed planting flowers in the yards of her neighbors and friends. She loved showing people how to enhance their natural beauty. Sorel, of course, loved to look fashionable herself and had a unique and classy style of dressing. It was a must to have her nails, toes and hair looking the best to accentuate her beauty. Sorel was a people’s person and a great encouragement to all she met.
Sorel was preceded in death by her grandparents, Elise and Oscar Haynes, and Mary Winnie.
