Sawatha Sophia Cuffy Jefferson-Grant

Sawatha Jefferson, the daughter of the late Joseph Williams and Verneader Jefferson was born
January 6, 1973, in Orangeburg, South Carolina. She entered eternal rest on Wednesday, April
24, 2024, at Trident Medical Center in Charleston, South Carolina.
She was educated in the public school of Orangeburg County. Sawatha was a graduate of Holly
Hill-Roberts High School Class of 1991.
Early in life she joined and became of member of Union Hill Missionary Baptist Church.
Sawatha was employed at Dorchester County Disability and Special Need in Summerville,
South Care as an Direct Support Staff for 24 years. She also was an employee at Berkeley
Citizens Center, the Coastal Center, Alston Middle School and Summerville High School.
Sawatha was loved by many. She loved family togetherness and especially her kids.
Sawatha will be missed by all who knew her in many ways you could imagine.
She leaves behind: her loving mother, Verneader Jefferson, of Holly Hill, SC; Two children; a
daughter, Nigeeba Grant, and a son, Omarshariff Jefferson both of Holly Hill, SC; one brother,
Jermain Jefferson of Holly Hill, SC; two sisters, Rhonda & Amanda Williams, both of Holly Hill,
SC; three uncles, James Snider, of Holly Hill, SC, Johnnie Snider of Boston, Massachusetts,
and Adam (Viola) Willimas of Holly Hill, SC; six aunts, Minnie L. Johnson of Holly Hill, SC,
Augustine Shannen of Holly Hill, SC, Mary Mack of Holly Hill, SC, Mary Strong of Holly Hill, SC
and Martha Williams of Holly Hill, SC; two nieces, Jamya Jefferson of Holly Hill, SC and Tia
Williams of Holly Hill, SC; two nephews, Jaewon Jefferson and Tyreek Williams both of Holly
Hill, SC; one great niece, JaMoni Jefferson of Holly Hill, SC; and a host of other relatives and
friends.
