Roosevelt (Ned) Johnson, the son of Willie Johnson and Essie Hilliard Johnson, was born March 21, 1944 in Orangeburg County, South Carolina. In addition to his parents, Roosevelt's son, Victor Moore, three brothers; Leroy Johnson, Hebron Johnson, William Johnson and one sister, Mildred Howell preceded him in death. God Looked down upon this man, who loved his family and called him to eternal rest on Tuesday, July 6, 2021 at Trident Medical Center in North Charleston, South Carolina.
"Ned, Uncle Roosevelt or Uncle Rose," as he was affectionately known, grew up and received his education in the public schools of Orangeburg County. He spent most of his adult life as a cook in Brooklyn, Manhattan and Upstate New York. He loved his work and often shared recipes. Ned also had a passion for cars and no matter what he was driving he always was thinking about what kind he was going to buy next. Most of all, he loved his family dearly.
His love for family and fond memories will always be cherished by many: daughter, Blessing Patterson of Winston-Salem, North Carolina; brothers, Henry Johnson of Vance, SC; Matthew Johnson (Thelma) of Santee, SC and Bennie Guest of Sumter, SC; sister-in-law, Debbie Johnson of Brooklyn NY and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
