On Saturday, February 6, 2021 at 8:45 am, Richard A. Montgomery departed this life and earned his heavenly wings at Prisma Health Richland Hospital in Columbia, SC.
Richard was born on May 12th 1941 in Holly Hill, SC to the late Joe and Mattie Thompson-Montgomery. He moved to New York, NY when he was five where he would complete his schooling. He would call New York home for the next thirty-five years. In 1982, he returned to Eutawville, SC to be closer to his mother. Richard held numerous jobs in the carpentry/brick mason field and several plant jobs. Richard moved to Ehrhardt/Bamberg in 1996. In 2004, he met and married the late Nazarene Williams-Montgomery.
In his spare time Richard enjoyed singing gospel music, playing spades and OH MY GOD FISHING!!
Richard was predeceased by his parents Joe and Mattie Montgomery; wife, Nazarene Montgomery; brother, James A. Montgomery and son, Edwin Generlette.
Richard leaves to cherish his memory: seven daughters, Teresa Sheard of Bronx, NY, Dawn Twyman, Stacia Kim Gittens, Creeana (Dennis) Crosland all of Florence, SC, Marae Cherelle Montgomery of Holly Hill, SC, Richelle Montgomery of Dalton, GA, Myrtle Williams of Bamberg, SC; five sons, Revelle Montgomery of Bronx, NY, Taron (Nikki) Montgomery of Florence, SC, Kishan (Michelle) Generlette of Savannah, GA, Jerome Murdock of Ehrhardt, SC and Lewis (Diane) Williams of Bamberg, SC; two sisters, Bonnie White of Eutawville, SC, Betty (Mike) Montgomery-Turner of Conyers, GA; one sister in-law and four brother in-laws. 29 grandchildren and 16 great grands. A special, dedicated and devoted friend Ms. Joanne Risher. A host of other family and friends who will forever keep his memory alive.
