Pastor Willie Roberts, Sr. Obituary

I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith:  Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing.

2 Timothy 4:7-8

In accordance with the will of our Heavenly Father, Overseer Willie Griffin Roberts, son of the late Claude and Clara Morrow Roberts, made his triumphant transition and entered eternal rest at the age of 92, on Thursday, October 13, 2022, at Roper St. Francis, Summerville, SC.

Overseer Willie G. Roberts was born in Bakewell, TN, June 18, 1930. He grew up and attended public schools in Chattanooga, TN.  He joined the United States Army, where he proudly served his county until he was honorably discharged.  He continued his employment with Cleveland Crane Engineering Company as a certified welder for many years.

Overseer Roberts was united in holy matrimony to the late Mosie Lee Hampton Roberts on December 31, 1956; God blessed this loving union with four children.

Overseer Roberts served the Lord very faithfully, starting his Christian journey at Orchard Knob Baptist Church, Chattanooga, TN.  He committed his life to The Great Commission as a young man, starting his ministry while serving his country in Hawaii.  He also served as a Chaplain while serving in the United States Army.  Upon his discharge he served as Pastor of Apostolic Church of the Living God the Pillar and Ground of the Truth, Inc., Cleveland, OH. However, after many years of servitude at this ministry, Overseer Roberts and his family later moved to Orwell, Ohio where he founded Bloomfield Holiness Church.  He later met the late Chief Apostle E.W. and Chief Mother G.R. Waiters and joined the Faith Temple Apostolic Churches of Christ fellowship.  Overseer Roberts changed the name of Bloomfield Holiness Church to Faith Temple Apostolic Church and was later ordained as an Overseer.

Overseer Roberts was a man of character, integrity, strength, discipline and love. In 1994, Overseer Roberts, retired from Pastoring and moved to SC, where he continued his membership with Faith Temple Apostolic Church, working under the leadership of Chief Apostle Clyde & Chief Mother Smith at Greater Faith Temple, Dorchester, SC.  He served very faithfully by his Chief Apostle’s side.  He served as an Elder and in whatever capacity necessary to continue the work of the Kingdom.  He was devoted to ministry, loved God, his church, and church family.  He enjoyed playing his guitar and all that know him, know that he loved to “shout”, he was our “Shouting John.”  He was a “Praiser” at heart and seized every opportunity he could to spread God’s word.

Overseer Roberts was preceded in death by: his parents, grandparents, two brothers Raymond (Constance) Roberts and Richard (Andrea) Roberts; and one sister, Claudia (Waide) Roberts Woods.

He leaves to cherish his loving memories:  four children whom he loved unconditionally, Melony Ramsey and David Roberts of Eutawville, SC; Willie G. Roberts, Jr of Sligo, PA; and Timothy (Tulip) Roberts of Phoenix, AZ; one brother: Kenneth Roberts; two sisters: Robin Roberts and Deborah Roberts; eight grandchildren, three great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, family, friends, and church family.
