Elouise Delila Bryant Mazyck Simmons, affectionately known as “Lala,” was the epitome of what a Child of God, Wife, Mother, and Friend should be. She was born on May 2, 1935 (officially recorded as May 5) in Moncks Corner, South Carolina, to the late Andrew and Annie (Bryan) Bryant. Elouise was joined in holy matrimony with George C. Mazyck, and from this union, five children were born. George preceded her in death. Later, she married Deacon Elias C. Simmons, who also preceded her in death, along with one son, Elias Simmons Jr., seven siblings, four grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.
She received her education through the Berkeley County Public School System, where she studied cosmetology and graduated with honors. She later continued her education at Rice Business College. A woman of many talents, Elouise, established M&S Floral in the 1970s, creating floral arrangements for all occasions. Her creativity extended to baking, decorating cakes, and crafting.
From the young age of 12, she expressed her devotion to God and remained a dedicated soldier of faith throughout her life. She loved her church, her family, and giving to others. Known as “Mother” not only to her biological children but to many, she cared deeply for those around her, leading families and individuals to Christ. She taught and counseled in her home, welcoming all to her table. She often said, “No one is going to hell from this table unless they want to.”
In addition to her work in the church, Elouise started a ministry at her table called “The Team,” where women would gather for Bible study, spiritual growth, and encouragement. It was a safe space for learning, healing, and strengthening their faith in God. She believed in the power of unity and mentorship, guiding countless women in their walk with Christ. The gospel was always present in her home, and visitors never left without receiving not only physical nourishment but also spiritual food and prayer. She had a heart for visiting the sick and shut-in, both in her community and beyond. Many testimonies of healing and deliverance have been shared as a result of her prayers and unwavering faith.
She was one of the founders of The Tabernacle of God Soul Saving Center, where she helped establish the ministry, later expanding to a tent, and eventually constructing a permanent building. Elouise’s ministry extended far beyond the walls of her church. She was invited to preach at many different churches, spreading the gospel with boldness and compassion. She held numerous revivals where people were saved, delivered, and transformed by the power of God. Her anointed preaching, gift of prophecy, and unwavering faith led many to Christ. Her presence was a beacon of hope for those seeking spiritual guidance and healing, she exemplified that the Lord was her strength, standing firm in her faith and unwavering in her commitment to God’s work. Elouise’s legacy continues through the love and wisdom she instilled in her family.
