.Henry Johnson, Jr. was born June 24, 1946 in Goose Creek, SC to Mr. Henry Johnson, Sr. and Anna Bell Gourdine. In 1965, he married Betty Harley; in this union came eleven (11) children, 70 grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father, Henry Johnson, Sr., one son: Dwight Latrell Johnson; three brothers: Louis Johnson, William Johnson, Alfred Johnson, and a sister-n-law, Linda Johnson.
Henry was also known as Junior (Jr.). He attended Berkeley County Public School. He worked for many years as a construction worker, well known for brick laying. Jr. loved boating, fishing, gardening, family gathering and dancing. He was known to “cut-a-step” on the dance floor. He was a very laid back person that loved spending time with his grandchildren. Even though Jr. always love living life and traveling: he loved himself some Betty Jean. Henry attended Calvary COGIC.
He leaves behind to cherish his precious memories, his loving and devoted wife of 56 years, Betty Johnson of Goose Creek, SC; three sons: Darryl Johnson (Raquel) of Atlanta, GA; Henry Johnson, III (Tamayo) of Atlanta, GA; Germaine Johnson of Goose Creek, SC; two daughters: Sharesa Carr (James) of Atlanta, GA; and Georgette Lewis of Atlanta, GA; mother: Anna Bell Johnson; five sisters: Lula Mae Washington (Donnie) of Summerville, SC; Doris L. Wyatt of Goose Creek, SC; Elaine Nance (Dennis) of Goose Creek, SC; Ann Johnson (Dwight) of Jacksonville, FL; Rosetta Marshall (Michael) of Goose Creek, SC; one uncle: Bishop Johnnie James Johnson of Goose Creek, SC; three aunts: Carrie Mae Johnson, Josephine Sass, and Lillian Gourdine; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
