Moyes Joseph Obituary

Mr. Moyes Joseph, is the oldest son of the late Mr. Franklin Joseph, Sr. and Mrs. Martha Jenkins Joseph. He was born in Orangeburg County on March 14, 1940. He attended the old Bull School in Vance, SC. Moe as he was affectionately known moved to New York City where he lived and work until he returned back to his home town of Vance. He was a lifelong member of the Live Oak African Methodist Episcopal Church in Vance, SC. Brother Joseph was a faithful member of class #10. He also was a member of the Mighty Male Chorus of the Live Oak African Methodist Episcopal Church. He also got joy singing with the local Gospel Group The Voices of Thunder.

Moyes was a hard worker and had numerous jobs while living in New York City. Upon returning to SC he was employed by Georgia Pacific Plant and Giant Cement Plant. He enjoyed fishing and dancing as he was known as a great dancer in the area. Moe was a super Fan of Marvel Movies and knew how to wear his rags. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, Martha Jenkins Joseph and Franklin Joseph, Sr., his younger brother Frank Joseph Jr. and a special nephew Keemon T. Brown. 

He leaves to cherish fond memories; his sisters, Dorothy Pepper Brown of Vance and Sheila H. Jamison of Santee; his nieces and nephews that he helped raised Rosalind L. Brown of Vance, Rev. Dr. R. L. Brown (Amy) of Vance, Vicki L. Parker (Ray) of Charleston, SC., Doris Joseph of Upstate New York and Kim McDonald of NYC; his aunts: Lucile Jenkins of Sumpter, SC, Helen " Duck" Elmore of Vance, SC and Girlease W. Fogle of NYC; and a host of grand nieces and nephews along with many loving cousins. He was thankful for a very faithful and devoted Class Leader, Betty J. Flower.

He is also thankful for the professional staff if the Presbyterian Home in Lexington, SC as well as Prisma Health Hospice in Columbia, SC and the compassionate care they provided during his final days.
