Mother Mary Pooser Hunt

Give her of the fruit of her hands; and let her own works praise her in the gates

Our Mother, Mary Poose Hunt, daughter of the late Gillison Sweat and Louise McKune Sweat, was born on January 6, 1934. She received her wings on Tuesday, February 1, 2022 at her residence after a brief illness.

Mom received her education in the public schools (Rosenwald) in Holly Hill, SC. She was a very studious person.

At an early age, she accepted Christ as her personal Savior in Greater Target A.M.E. Church. She served her church diligently in many capacities, which included the following organizations: Sunday School Secretary, Usher Society, Stewardess Board, Women's Missionary Society, Class Leader, and Senior Angelic Choir. She loved her church dearly and she loved people. She adored her children and grandchildren. She also loved her animals. She actually had to become an adopted mother to six little puppies and bottled-fed them like they were her own babies after their own mother was accidentally killed. She worked for many years at the Holly Hill Locker Company where she was affectionately called the "sausage and pudding lady." Boy, did people love that sausage and pudding. She was very missed by her boss, Kenny Folse, when she got sick some years ago and wasn't able to return to work.

Mom was united in Holy Matrimony to our father Willie S. Pooser and Step-father George Hunt; both which preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Roscoe Sweat, James Sweat and Aubennie Mckune.

Mom leaves to cherish her precious memories: daughters, Juliet (Johnny) Bookhart of Holly Hill, SC, Sallie G. (Charles) Head of Frisco, TX; Son and special caregiver, Zachary Pooser of the home; a brother she loved so much, Benjamin C. (Lourine) Sweat of Holly Hill, SC; four grandchildren whom she adored, Brandey Gilliard(Eldon) of Frisco, TX, Jeron (Tamieka) Bookhard of Vance, SC, Jarcar Bookhart of Holly Hill, SC, Stanley (Lamaneice) Pooser of Orangeburg, SC; a Step-grandson, Damion Watson of Moncks Corner, SC; 6 adorable great-grandchildren who were special in her heart, Jordyn, Jayden, Caleb, Shariah, Kimora and Vivianah; 6 step-great grandchildren, Layunna, Chase, Chance, I'Leyah, I'yeareah and Kingston; Sisters-in-law, Mildred Sweat of Elloree, SC, Constance Brown, Myra Smiley, and Queen Jenkins of Eutawville, SC Margie Tilley of Santee, SC, Jannie Ladson of New Jersey, Jannie Pooser of Vance, SC; Brother-in-Law, Hamp Pooser of Santee, SC; a special nephew whom she thought the world of, Jezrell Sweat, of Elloree, SC; a special cousin she bonded and connected with when time permitted, Margaret Corbett; a large host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
