Michael Waites, Sr.

Michael Waites Sr. was the son of the late Mr. Daniel Sumpter and Ms. Victoria Waites. He was
born in Charleston, SC and attended Charleston County Schools. He graduated from Burke High
School in 1977, Michael will forever be a Bulldog. He worked as a Master Plumber from age 21
until he retired in 2009. He joined Heart to Heart International Ministries in 1999 under the
leadership of Bishop Jerome A. Taylor and the late Dr. Tonia Aiken Taylor. He faithfully served
with a smile from the parking lot ministry to the Joseph Center food bank. He liked football,
wrestling, and working outside in the yard. In his nostalgic moments he watched Soap Operas.
His seed line was everything to him. When it came to quality time it was family first. He
treasured time spent with His wife, children and grandchildren. Michael was the husband of
Elder Corliss Waites. They were married on December 26, 1986.
He leaves to continue his legacy his wife Elder Corliss Waites; three children Michael Tristan,
Timothy Daunte, Sasha Loraine (Tristain). His grandchildren Cyrene, Jeremiah, Mikaela,
Tymina, Tristain Jr., Kyson, Zarah, Cairo, and Amira. His mother Victoria Waites and his siblings
Gerald Singleton (Sylvia), Lithonia Hargwood, Beverly Weems (Anthony), James Carlton
(Cassandra), Victoria Gallashaw (Bernard), Anthony Hill, and Ronnie Hill. He also leaves to
cherish his memories; Terrel Curry, an honorary son, and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins,
family and friends.
