Mary Estelle Milligan

Mary Estelle Joyner Milligan was born August 24, 1930 to the late Gracie Peace Joyner and Walter Joyner of Moncks Corner, S.C.  She transitioned on September 17, 2019 at the Presbyterian Hospital New York, NY. Her last residence being the Fieldston Lodge Nursing Home, Riverdale, NY. 

Mary received her education in the Charleston and Berkeley County Public Schools.  She grew up in the lowcountry, in the Whitesville/Oakley of Moncks Corner. As a child, Mary loved climbing trees and jumping fences.

Mary met and married the late Lawrence Milligan Jr.  From this union, they were blessed with one son, Cornelius Larry Milligan who resides in Brooklyn, New York.

Mary spent her adult life in New York where she worked during her early years doing piece work in the clothing industry.

Those left to cherish her memories: one son, Cornelius (Neely) Milligan; one sister: Elizabeth Joyner Cooper; Cousins: Ruth Joyner Pride and Peter Joyner, Jr., (Ruth); two nieces and a host of extended family and in-laws.
