Martha (Wright) Greene, 77 of Queens, New York received her peaceful marching order on May 24, 2021. Martha did not fuss or fight as she knew her time had come. She was born on July 21, 1943 in Orangeburg County, in Eutawville, South Carolina to the late Francis and Adell Wright.
Martha was educated in the public school in Holly Hill, South Carolina. During her school years she met the love of her life, the late George Greene Sr. George and Martha moved to Queens, NY in 1963, where she resided until her death. She committed her life to the Lord as a young woman. Martha had several nicknames, but the name that stuck with her was “Turk”. Turk was kind and compassionate to all she met. Turk’s favorite past-time was laughing and joking with family and close friends. Martha worked several years as a home attendant for those in need until the passing of her husband, and then she took over as the Chief Operating Officer for George’s Tire Shop.
Martha leaves to cherish her memories, four beautiful children and six grandchildren. Inlaws by marriage Lurin Greene and Joe Bannister both of South Carolina. A good family of friends for over 50 years was the Murphy family of Queens, New York. Seven sisters: Thelma (the late Dolphus) Johnson, of Summerton, South Carolina; the late Edith (the late Benny) Wright; Verdell (the late Wilbur) Oliver, of Eutawville; Linda (Bernard) Mintz, Ruth Wright, and Ella Mae (Willie) Watson of Eutawville, South Carolina; five brothers: the late Morris (the late Mary) Wright; Francis (Gloria) Wright of Roanoke, Virginia; Paul (Diane) Wright, of New Jersey; Nathaniel (Susan) Wright of Vance, South Carolina; and Richard Wright of Eutawville, South Carolina; also a host of nieces and nephews
