Ms. Marie F. Singletary, the daughter of the late Welton Fogle, Sr. and Mary Lee Palmer Fogle, was born in Orangeburg, SC on April 25, 1946.
She graduated from Bethune Memorial High School in Bowman, S.C. She believed highly in education and went on to further her studies by graduating from Claflin University with a Bachelors in Sociology and achieved a Masters of Arts Degree in Rehabilitation Counseling from South Carolina State University.
Marie married the love of her life, Samuel Singletary, on November 22, 1972 and to this union four children were born.
She spent most of her life working with Edisto School District as a substitute teacher and a Licensed Hairstylist; whereas, she continued to serve her customers until her sickness. Marie, loved to keep active, therefore; she would walk, cook, and serve her family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Samuel Singletary; a daughter, Maeloney Singletary; two brothers, Welton Fogle, Jr. and Bishop Fogle; one grandson; and her grandparents.
Marie slept away peacefully on April 10, 2020. She leaves to cherish her fond memories: two sons, Selwyn Singletary of Chicago and Kenric Singletary, Sr., of Texas; one daughter, Yolanda Singletary of New York; five grandchildren; Aliana Marie Green, Angel Green, Orville Green, Jr. Tyquarius Singletary, and Kenric S. Singletary, Jr.; one sister: Bessie (Wilson) White of Vance, SC; two brothers: Robert (Maggie) Fogle of Rowesville, S.C. and Bennie Fogle of Bowman, S.C.; one aunt: Gladys Keitt Fogle of Bowman, S.C.; in-laws, nieces, nephews, and a host of other relatives and friends all of whom will miss her dearly.
