Mrs. Lydia (Oliver) Simmons Freeman the daughter of the late Reverend James and Nettie Mae Simmons, was born June 10, 1958, in the Strawberry Section of Moncks Corner, SC. She is the youngest of ten siblings. She was proceeded in death by her father and mother, Reverend James and Nettie Mae Simmons; brothers, Calvin and Nathan; sisters, Mary Simmons Anderson, Martha Simmons, Eleanor Williams, Leola Middleton and Jeanette Langenfeld. She enjoyed spending time with her family. In her spare time, she enjoyed traveling and cooking delicious meals for others. She attended elementary, middle, and high schools in Berkeley county, graduating from Goose Creek High and attended Trident Technical College. She was employed by various industries, including cooking, light industrial, medical transportation and patient care. Lydia or “Oliver” as she was affectionately known, received her Heavenly wings on Monday, June 29, 2020. Ms. Lydia Simmons is survived by eldest brother Mr. James Simmons (Yazmin) of San Antonio, TX and sister Mrs. Rebecca Young (Eddie) of Riviera Beach, FL. She adopted, loved and raised her daughter Ms. Andrea Simmons, and enjoyed the love and affection from her grandsons, Hakeim and Joshua Simmons; aunt, Mae Ella Singleton of Rochester, NY; a special cousin Joseph Clinton of Winston-Salem ,NC and niece Tasha Sargent, Atlanta, GA., special friends Beverly Johnson and Mother Ruth, and a host of nephews, nieces, other relatives and friends.
