Louis Washington affectionately known to his family and friends as Joe was born to the late Jervey
Washington Sr. and Lottie Waymer- Washington in Holly Hill, SC on July 3, 1935. Louis peacefully
passed away at MUSC of Orangeburg on Oct. 15, 2024.
Louis was educated in the Orangeburg County School system and was a graduate of Roberts High
School class of 1955. In December of 1955, Louis married the love of his life, Marjorie Vogt. To this
union of 69 years five children were born. Also in that same year Louis enlisted into the United
States Air Force.
In 1960 Louis moved to New York City. In which he found gainful employment where he became a
supervisor of a Logistics Company until he retired. In 1997 Louis relocated back to his hometown of
Holly Hill, SC.
He was preceded in death by his brothers Booker T. Washington and Jevery Washington Jr. Sisters
Mary Lewis, Lucille Hunt and Dorothy Prezzy. His Children Louis Jr. Gregory and Laverne
Washington.
He leaves to cherish his memory to his loving and devoted wife Marjorie Vogt- Washington. Two
sons Leonard Washington and Jerry (Kela) Washington. One grandson reared in the home Tarik
(Geraldine) Washington. Three grandsons Sequan, Johnathan(Jamica), and Ahmad. One
granddaughter Amour “Jayla” Washington. Six great-granchildren Johnathan Jr., Journey, Jurue,
Madison, Nasir, and Tarik Jr. One sister Val Jean Tyson and one sister-in-law Queenie Hampton. A
very special care taker Tiwanica Cusack and a loving god-daughter Ciara (Greg) Lawanson. A host of nieces and nephews,and many other relatives and friends he love so dear.
