Louis Howell Jr., son of the late Louis Howell, Sr. and Queenie Mae Sanders Howell was born on September 12, 1951, in Cross, SC. In the early morning of Sunday, June 29, 2025, he peacefully entered eternal rest. He was preceded in death by his parents Louis Howell, Sr., and Queenie Mae Sanders Howell and stepmother Annette L. Howell, two brothers Randolph and Bernard Howell, and one sister, Angela Howell Warren.
Affectionately known as "June," Louis was raised in Cross, SC and was educated in the public school system. He was a driver for Old Dominion Freight Line and a carpenter for Donhoe Construction Company in Washington D.C. until his retirement. He was known as one of the best carpenters in Washington D.C. He enjoyed carpentry and building picnic tables in his spare time. "He believed in measuring twice and cutting once."
Louis was married to Authella Matthews Howell of Bowie, MD. Two stepsons William (Billy) and Daniel (Danny) Matthews of Cross, SC.
June's legacy lives on in the hearts of those who loved him. He is survived by four brothers: Johnell Howell (Darlene) and Rudolph Howell of Detroit, MI, Willie Ladson and Timothy Howell of Cross, SC; and one sister, Carol Howell of Savannah, GA, along with a host of nieces, nephews, extended relatives, and dear friends.
