Mr. Leon Stratman, son of the Late Annie Bell Thomas and Reuben Stratman, was born on April 2, 1960, in Birmingham, AL. Leon entered into eternal rest on September 29, 2021, at the Low Country Community Hospice House in Summerville, South Carolina.
Leon went to Phillip High School and was a 1978 graduate. While in school Leon played football during his senior year for Phillip High School.
Leon loved trucks, upon graduation Leon received his Commercial Driver ’s License and entered the transportation industry. Leon was a truck driver for 30 years, starting out as a long -distance truck driver. Leon was last employed with Marino ’s Market as a butcher for six years where he worked making many lasting friends.
Leon knew the Lord at an early age and accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Savior where he became a member at United Missionary Baptist Church. Leon later moved to Moncks Corner, South Carolina, where he attended and became a member of HIMM Church.
Leon was united in holy matrimony to the Late Emma R. Sparks. This union brought two girls.
Leon ’s hobbies included listening to music and watching his ultimate team, “Green Bay Packers. ”
Leon definitely had a gift of gab. He could easily fill a room with laughter. He was a kind soul that left an impression on everyone he encountered.
Leon was preceded in death by one brother, Willie James Rice, Sr.; one sister, Patricia (James) Richardson.
He leaves to cherish his memories: fiancé: Corlette Richardson; his daughters: Leonica (Casey) Demond Gray of Birmingham, Alabama, and Frednica Stratman of North Carolina; one son: Felipe McDonald of Durham, NC; step -daughters: Nicole Sutters and Tawana Boatwright; sisters: Doris Brown of Chicago, IL, Betty (William) Gray of Atlanta, GA, and Ruby Lee Daniels of Atlanta, GA; two brothers -in - law: William Grey and James Richardson Sr.; grandchildren: Ava Gray, Felipe, Nyria, Shatavia, Shamonte, Symir McDonald, Tyrec, Tionne, Tahmari, Skyler, Leia E. and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, many co-workers and friends.
