Lawrence Randolph is the son of the late Benjamin (Big Baby) & Carrie Lee Randolph. He was raised in Holly Hill, S.C. and attended local schools. Lawrence worked with his father in construction, farming and other family endeavors. He attended Target church & later Pilgrim Baptist Church (Brooklyn NY). As a young man he met and married the love of his life Effie W. Jefferson (Deceased). They moved to New York City for greater opportunities & to start their family.
Lawrence had a concrete connection to NYC. He was one of a few men of color that were able to join Local #23 labor union (now #79) and helped to build the World Trade Center. Lawrence was a black man working in a predominantly white trade at a time when everyone didn't make it back home. God covered and protected him. He became one of the first black Shop Stewarts with local #23.
Lawrence loved his family, big cars, dressing well and socializing with people. He had a big heart and helped many of his family get their start in NYC. Housing folks, getting jobs, loans etc. Dressing well was his thing. Godfather hats, suits and blazers. Before he would come home from work he would stop by a Johnny pump wash off and change his shirt. He would say "You don't have to look like where you work". "Have some class!"
Lawrence leaves to celebrate his children Lucinda (Edwin) Benjamin, Alicia (Ron) Randolph, siblings Emmanuel (Janie Mae) Randolph, Mazie (Reginald) Lawrence, Joan (Franklin) Howard, Bessie (Percy) Fludd, Mike (Eartha) Randolph, Clemson (Brenda) Randolph, Richard (Janice) Randolph, Mary Jane Randolph, grandchildren Anthony Randolph Jr, Taina Benjamin, Brandon (Cherise) Randolph, Ronnicia Wright, great grands Jamir (Ping) Randolph, Brandy, Blair & Brandon Jr Randolph, Renthony Randolph and a host of nieces, nephews, family & friends.
