Kenneth Dezelle, a beloved husband, father, and brother was born July 7, 1951 in Charleston SC. Kenneth was the fifth child of the late Solomon and Idella Dezelle.
Kenneth Dezelle lived in Charleston County before it was rezoned to Berkeley County. He attended Lincolnville Elementary and Bonds Wilson High School. After high school, he began his career job as a dock loader for the Piggly Wiggly Carolina Company, and then later the warehouse located in Jedburg, SC. He was affectionately called “Dundee” by his coworkers.
Kenneth began his Christian journey as a young child at Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church in Ladson. He enjoyed Sunday School at the encouragement of his parents. As an adult, he attended Eastside Baptist Church and later Life Christian Assembly. Here he was comfortable and never met a stranger as most members knew and loved him. The former Pastor Lavaughn Young who grew very fond of Kenneth, would always speak of his appreciation for having him attend the church.
On December 24, 1983, he married the love of his life, Eva Simpson. Together they had three children. Many knew when he was around because of his playful spirit and unique, affectious laugh. He was called a “gentle giant” and everyone knew his love for others.
He began his heavenly journey after years of battling sickness. He received his wings on June 15, 2020 in North Charleston, SC. He will be laid to rest at his family ‘s home church Mt. Zion on Dunmeyer Hill Road. We can say “Kenneth, you have fought a good fight. You have finished your course. You have kept the faith. Henceforth there is laid up for you a crown of righteousness”.
Those left to cherish his memory are his dedicated and loving wife Eva Dezelle; his name sake Kenneth L. Dezelle Jr, (Allette Reid), Daugther Adrienne Staley (Michael), youngest son Stephen Dezelle. Grandkids, Serenity, Michael, Mekhi, and Amirah; his Older siblings Solomon Dezelle Jr. (Gloria), Myrtle Jones, Corrine Berry (Noel) and Daniel Dezelle (Hazel): a host of cousins, friends, loving nieces and nephews, along with all who loved of cousins, friends, loving nieces and nephews, along with all who loved him. Loved ones who preceded his death: his devoted mother and Father Solomon Sr. and Idella Dezelle, and brother Abraham Dezelle.
