Kathy, affectionately called Kat, received her education from Orangeburg County Public Schools in South Carolina and Gilford County Public Schools in North Carolina. She graduated in 1975 from Page High School in Greensboro, North Carolina.
Kat was a loyal hard-working woman who took pride in caring for her family. She worked 38 years at the Coastal Center and 20 years at the Presbyterian Home, in Summerville, South Carolina. She was the acting supervisor for her department and received various awards of the year including, “Housekeeper of the Year.” Her work ethic was astounding and preceded her, as she never received anything less than an Excellent on building ratings and inspections. During her years at the Coastal Center and The Presbyterian Home, she established wonderful relationships with many beautiful and supportive co-workers. Their bonds created can never be broken and love will last a lifetime.
Kathy loved the lord. She was a faithful member of Spring Hill Missionary Baptist Church. She served on the youth and young adult choirs, was a cheerful giver, always paying her tithes, and contributing to the family and friends’ programs.
Kat the eldest girl, cared and provided for all of her siblings and she took very good care of her mother. Although Kathy was never married nor birthed any children, she was truly a wonderful mother and sister to her siblings. She cared for them as if they were her own. Kathy is one of 12 children. She was a loving and supportive grandmother, aunty, sister, and friend. As the oldest, she single-handedly reared her two younger siblings; Beverly Johnson-Lee and James L. Johnson.
