Josephine Davis, daughter of the late Mr. Hackles Davis, Sr. and Mrs. Sudie McKnight-Davis was born in Eutawville, South Carolina on August 17, 1936. On April 1, 2022 she entered into eternal rest.
Josephine became a member of Silas United Methodist church at an early age. She attended public school in Orangeburg county and she later move to New York where she became a member of John Jay Moore African Methodist Church where she served faithfully for over 30 years. She became a Deaconess in 2000. She was also a part of the Friend’s Club and Usher board. On March 20, 2010 she was honored as one of the Mothers of New York District. She also worked at several jobs but her love was Morningside Nursing Home where she worked for Twenty years before she retired 2003.
She was preceded in death by her beloved son Gary Davis, Parents, Mr. & Mrs. Hackles Davis, her Uncle James McKnight, brothers (four) Elijah Davis, George Davis (Ernestine Jones Bradley) Sister in love, Jeremiah Davis, Robert Davis, Sr. and (one) sister Annie Mae Lee.
She leaves to cherish her memories a daughter, Donna Davis-Brown, son-in-law Wilfred Brown, a son Steven Davis, a granddaughter Katelyn Nicole Davis, a sister Geneva Lyew of Paterson, NJ, two brothers, Hackles (Mary) Davis Jr. of South Carolina, Jerome (Jean) Davis of Florida, Sister-In-Laws Della of Florida, and Catherine Davis of South Carolina. Benjamin Brown, adopted sister Norma McNeil from the Bronx and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends
