Joseph Bernard Collins, Sr.

Joseph was born September 3, 1970, in Miami, Florida, to the late Joseph b. Collins and Elizabeth Jenkins-Sumter. He grew up alongside his tow younger siblings, Karen Robers of Miami, Florida, and Cutina Gaddist of St. George, SC. At a young age, he embared on an exciting and adventure-filled life which included entrepreneurship, music, travel, golf, friends, and most of all family.

He attended and graduated from Miami Central High School and moved on to Florida Memorial Univeristy. After completing clooege, he excelled at being an entrepreneur. He owned several businesses such as a Record label (S&P Records), magazine (The Vault), Recording studio (The Vault) and a contracting company (Vintage Contracting Co.).

Joseph was a dedicated and determined man who did not hesitate to help others when he could. In his leisure he was a member of "The Boyz" golf club. He enjoyed exploring new places like Scotland, Las Vegas, The Bahamas, London, the Dominican Republic and others, too numerous to name.

Joseph Bernard Collins, a beloved son, husband, father, and friend, gained his wings on Wednesday, July 12, 2023, peacefully at the age of 42 while surrounded by loved ones. His sudden departure has left a void in the lives of those who know him, and his memory will forever be cherished.

In his passing, Joseph leaves behind his loved ones to cherish his memories: his wife, Tamica Collins; children, Joseph Collins, Jr., Jazmine Collins, Justice Collins, Journey Collins, Kamirea Grate and DeBrandon Jews, Jr.; Michael and Latarvia Thomas whom he loved and treated as his own; grandkids, Aria Newkirk, Andre Newkirk, Jr., and NNy'jay Wamley; two sisters, Karen Collins Roberts (Monte) and Cutina Gaddist; aunts, Sarah Britton of Edtown, SC, Tingma Miller of Florence, Lula Ann and Jessie Smalls of SC, Rose Brown and Sandra Brown of Miami, Fl; special cousin: Jennifer Banks of New York; and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. 

Joseph's legacy will forever etched into the hears of those who knew and loved him. His absence leaves an immense void, but we find solace in the joyous memories he leaves behind.
