Johnny Lee Singleton, Sr.

Johnny Lee Singleton, son of James Keller and the late Mary Singleton Davis, was born in Santee, SC on May 3, 1954. He was reared by his grandmother, the late Maybell Singleton. He departed this life on Sunday, August 15, 2021 in LaGrange, GA after a brief illness.

Johnny was a proud graduate of Holly Hill-Roberts High School in 1973. Johnny was united in marriage to Catherine Bryant Singleton on July 25, 1974. This union was blessed with two children. Before cancer intervened, he was actively employed by the Parris Island Commissary in Parris Island, SC for over 20 years. Everyone knew he loved to dance and tell jokes. He was the life of every party. He loved his family and friends.

He leaves to cherish his loving memories: his wife, Catherine Bryant Singleton of Holly Hill, SC; two children: Johnny Clay Singleton of Florence, SC and Joyce Rentt Singleton of Columbia, SC; his father, James Keller of Norwalk, CT; four grandchildren: Damarious, Jareek, Kyshaun, and Cameron, of Columbia, SC; on great-grandson Damarrion of Columbia, SC; three siblings: Minnie Lee Mack and Charles Davis of Santee, SC, and Jimmy (Regina) Davis of Orangeburg, SC; a special aunt, Etheline Singleton of Santee, SC; a special cousin who was raised like a brother, Nathaniel (Barbara) Singleton of Santee, SC; a special nephew, Terry Mack of Santee, SC; and a host of loving nieces, nephews, and many, many friends.
