John Williams, the late Julius and Eartha Lee William’s son, was born on April 6, 1951, in Vance, South Carolina. He died on Sunday, June 16, 2024. He was a member of Rock Hill AME Church. After graduating from Holly Hill Roberts High School in Holly Hill, SC, he joined the United States Army and worked as a Motor Transport Operator. Following his service, he worked as a Police Officer for the Orangeburg Department of Public Safety. He eventually began doing building work for both himself and Santee Home Services. He loved making his family and friends laugh. He was known as the Soul Patrol in the community due to his ability to DJ. He enjoyed dancing and fixing firearms.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Mamie R. Guess, and brother, Will T. Williams.
He leaves to preserve his memories. His lovely wife, Catherine Williams: Three sons, Rodriques Williams of Vance, SC, DePedro Williams of Columbia, SC, and Steven Goodwin of Vance, SC, and five daughters: MSgt Cherise Williams, United States Air Force, Joint Base Charleston, SC. Retired SFC Shinda (James) Brown, United States Army, Holly Hill, SC; Kenya (Gregory) Williams-Gavin, Holly Hill, SC. Tawana (Ashley) Gilliard of Holly Hill, SC, and Tamieka (Jeron) Bookhart of Orangeburg, SC. Three sisters: Maude Asberry, Louise (Darnell) Williams, all of Vance, South Carolina Marie Wright, of Atlanta, Georgia. Two brothers: Willie L. (Johnny Mae) Williams of Vance, SC, and Reedy (Diedre) Williams of Columbia, SC. Six sisters-in-law: Joann (Sammie) Clark, Apostle Dr Eva Mae (Leon) Clark, Mary Ann Goodwin, and Marie Benjamin, all of Vance, SC, Apostle Annie Allen of Santee, SC, two brothers-in-law: Robert Goodwin and Johnny Goodwin, both from Vance, South Carolina. One uncle, Woodrow (Shirley) Williams of Vance, South Carolina. Two aunts: Hattie Williams and Blondell Davis, both of Vance, SC: Nineteen grandchildren and seventeen great-grandchildren: a special grandniece, Jayla Williams, plus a host of nieces, nephews, and other family and friends.
