John J. Hill, IV, 84, of Ladson, South Carolina, peacefully departed this life on
December 15, 2024. He was born on January 11, 1940, in Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania, to John J. Hill III and Elizabeth Hill.
After earning his degree from the University of
Pennsylvania, John dedicated many years to teaching as a high school language
professor. In 1974 John was elected to join the prestigious First City Troop of
Philadelphia and served till 1979 with the rank of Master Sergeant. Later, he
transitioned into residential real estate investments.
A passionate aviator, John was actively involved with Holly Hill Airport, where he shared
his love of flying with others. Beyond his aviation pursuits, he was a devoted husband,
father, mentor, and a staunch advocate for the preservation of American history. His
faith in Jesus was evident in his willingness to engage in conversations about His
teachings, making him a source of inspiration and guidance for many.
John will be remembered for his unwavering support for those in need, whether through
encouraging words, job opportunities, or life lessons. He cherished sharing his life
experiences and was always ready to lend a helping hand.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Myrtile Hill, and his children: Sean, Natalie, Jean-
Paul, Patrick, and Brigitte. John was also blessed with 18 grandchildren and one great-
grandchild.
