John “Mike” Davis, Jr. was born on October 26, 1960, in Orangeburg County, South Carolina, to the late Marie Stokes Davis and John Davis, Sr. He departed this life on Thursday, June 12, 2025. John proudly served his country in the United States Army for five years. Following his military service, he held various jobs and was known for his strong work ethic and dedication. John was a man of many passions and interests that brought him joy throughout his life. He had a deep love for the outdoors, and fishing was one of his most cherished hobbies. Whether it was quiet mornings on the lake or an adventurous day out by the river, John found peace and relaxation in the simplicity of nature. His patience and skill with a fishing rod reflected his calm, steady personality. Horseback riding was another activity that brought him great joy. He loved the feeling of freedom and connection with the animals, often spending hours on horseback, whether for leisure or simply to escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life. He had an undeniable bond with horses, and his time spent riding was always a time of reflection and joy.
John was also a family man who found great happiness in spending time with his loved ones. Whether it was hosting family gatherings, attending his children’s events, or just enjoying simple moments with his wife Annette and their beloved dog, Zena, John was always at his best when surrounded by family. His laughter, warmth, and caring nature created lasting memories for all who were close to him.
John was preceded in death by his mother, Marie Stokes Davis and his brother, James E. Davis.
He leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife: Annette E. Davis; his sons: Johnell (Keneshia) Geathers and Rakeial Elmore; his daughter: Felesha (Damon) Riley; his sisters: Emma (James) Carson and Denise M. Davis; four brothers-in-law and four sisters-in-law; fourteen grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He is also survived by a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
John will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who knew and loved him.
