Joe Louis High, 74, of Holly Hill, SC passed away on September 14, 2022. Joe Louis was born in Eutawville, SC to the late Johnny and Lucille Myers High on July 1, 1948. He attended the public schools of Holly Hill and graduated from Roberts High School in 1969. Joe Louis worked for several companies to include Giant Cement Company, Harleyville and Charleston shipyard. He retired from Landmark Construction Company in Charleston, SC.
At an early age, he became a member of Greater Unity AME Church, where he was a member of Class #20. He later moved his membership to True Faith Baptist Church, Eutawville, SC. He met and fell in love with Margie Ree High, they fell in love and was married on April 8, 1971 and to this union, two children were born. Being a kind and dependable father was the utmost importance to Joe Louis and he certainly did not disappoint when it came to wholeheartly loving his family.
He was preceded in death by his parents: Johnny and Lucille; wife: Margie; sister: Rena Mae Holman; and brothers: Robert Sr., and John High.
He leaves to mourn his passing and cherish his memories: his devoted daughter: Evette Michelle (LeTroy) Berry, Holly Hill, SC; devoted son: Eric Dwayne (Chantel) High, Woodstock, GA; his devoted and loving Fiancé: Carolyn Green; step-children: Felicia Pratt, Katrell Green, and Edward Green, Jr.; grandchildren, Justyce Page, Tampa Fl; Camayah Eleen and Ethan Carter High, Woodstock, GA; eight step-grandchildren; brothers, Harry (Betty), Kenneth High, Holly Hill, SC and Michael (Barbara) High,Eutawville, SC; sisters-in-law: Mary Ann High and Betty Lou (Nathaniel) Ravenell of Holly Hill, SC and Mildred Victorial (Isiah, III) Jenkins, Eutawville, SC; brother-in-law: Emmanuel Holman, Maryland; aunts:
Catherine Daily, Dorothy High and Azalee Yeadon all of Eutawville, SC; a devoted niece: Monica Holman Thomas; and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
