Jannie Mae Josey was born on July 18, 1939, to parents' Willie and Geneva James. After graduating high school, Jannie moved to New York City to pursue a career as a home health aide. Shortly after moving to New York, she met her future husband John Josey, and they would enjoy 53 years of marriage together. Jannie leaves behind 5 wonderful children: carol, Tyrone, Geniece, Patrick and Lillian, 8 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren whom she loved dearly.
Jannie always put family first and would go out of her way to make sure everyone was provided for. She was also generous to all her friends, never forgetting a single birthday so she could provide gifts for them. Jannie's passions were spending time with family, traveling, and taking trips to the casino whenever possible.
Jannie was a woman whose heart and soul were pure, just one phone call away she knew the things to brighten up one's day. An ear to listen, a shoulder to cry on and a kind word of wisdom to last a lifetime.
