Mr. James (Chester) Taste, Jr., son of the late James Christmas Taste and Mary Bennett, was born on December 24, 1937, in Cross, South Carolina. He was raised by the late Lawrence and Almetta Taste.
On November 15, 1956, he was joined in holy matrimony to Lillie Mae Epps Taste. Out of that union were born seven sons. He was employed by Walworth Plantation as a caretaker. He also worked for Traylor Brothers Construction as a construction worker. He was a member of Greater St. Paul U.M.C. where he served as a United Methodist Men Group. He sang with The Golden Tones as a Tenor.
He was preceded in death by five sons, Jerome Taste, Anthony Taste, Eric Taste, Nathaniel Taste, and Johnny Lee Taste; seven siblings, Maggie Gathers, Geneva Washington, Earnest Taste, Carrie Reed, Joe Louis Taiste, James B. Teaste, and George Taste.
He leaves to cherish his memories, a loving and devoted wife: Lillie Mae Taste; two sons: Benjamin Taste (Lulla Mae) and Joseph Taste; five daughters-in-law: Rosa Taste, Leeatha Wright Taste, Lucille Taiste, and Monica Corprew-Taste; four sisters: Lorrine Grissett, Henrietta Reese, Ella Mae Frazier, and Estelle (Paul) Brown; sisters-in-law: Carrie B. Taste, Mae Taste, and Nellie Haskell; brothers-in-law: Peter Gathers and Earl Benjamin; fifteen grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
