James was born December 7, 1938, to the late James and Estelle Gavin Dingle. James was surrounded by his family when he peacefully transitioned to his heavenly home.
James grew up in Eutawville, South Carolina. He spent most of his early years providing for his mother and siblings. He had a deep love and affection for his family, children, and wife.
He was in a gospel group called the Gospel Travelers for many years. He was also an usher for many years. He was well-versed in carpentry, plumbing, electricity, concrete finishing, and auto mechanics. His passion was rebuilding automobile engines and transmissions.
He also believed in the importance of work, ethics, and planning for the future. He had a heart full of love for his children, grandchildren, nephews, nieces, siblings, family, and community.
Those preceded in his death are his parents and brothers: Jingo, Harry, Johnny, Isaac, Elias, and Joseph; sisters: Annie, Janie, Isabella, Lucille, Florence, Martha, and Mary; and grandson Kenneth Hawkins.
Those who will cherish his memories are his wife: Ernell; four daughters: Jacqueline Mintz, Earnestine (Joseph) O’Pharrow, Pat Marcia (Kenneth) Hawkins, and Jamesetta (Anthony) James; two sons: Clifford A Dingle and Jimmy A Dingle; granddaughters: Marsha Dingle, Crystal Kabatra, Alicia Barjas, Brittany Byrd, Shantel Martin, Jasmine Dingle, Monique James and Adriane O’Pharrow; grandsons: Clifton A Dingle, Joseph (Brittany) O’Pharrow, Douglas O’Pharrow, Isiah Hampton, Brandon Hampton, Patrick Hawkins, Sterling (Jessica)Bowman, and Michael James; great grands: Joel Dingle, Amaya Turner, Matthew O’Pharrow, Kacy O’Pharrow, Au’Nasty Bowman, Bryn McKelvey, Kamarian Bowman, Abigail Middleton, Anthony Bargus, and Michael James, Jr.; two daughter-in-law‘s: Mary Alice Dingle and Hope Birch; one grand-daughter in law: Juanita Dingle; two sisters: Rachel Brown, and Virginia Washington; three sisters in laws: Pearl Johnson, Beryl Richardson, and Jayne (Kurt) Prescott; Brothers-in-laws: Samuel (Diane) Richardson, Harry Richardson, James (Kaye) Richardson and Paul (Elizabeth) Richardson, Lawrence Richardson, Richard Richardson, and Leroy Pickney; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
