Ida Adgerson Obituary

Ida Mae "Butch" Adgerson, daughter of the late Herbert and Mary Lee Westberry, was born on April 15, 1930 in Orangeburg County, South Carolina. After several years of being cared for by her daughters Valarie, Ulanda, and her grandson Michael; she peacefuly slipped away to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Friday, May 31, 2019 at her residence where she was surrounded by her children and grandchildren. 

At an early age, she joined Live Oak AME Church in Vance, SC. Later, she became a member of New Calvary Church of Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ where she served faithfully until physically, she was no longer able to do so. 

Ida attended the public schools of Vance, South Carolina. On November 12, 1947, she was joined in holy matrimony to Mr. Allen Z. Adgerson. They lived in Washington, D.C. for a short time while Allen proudly served our country in the United States Navy. Ida worked in the service industry before the couple returned to Vance, South Carolina; where she then, was a homemaker to their eight children. 

Preceding her in death were he parents, Herbert and Mary Lee Westberry; her husband, Allen Z. Adgerson; one daughter, Trixie Adgerson; two brothers, Herbert and Henry Westberry; one sister, Lizzie Mae Westberry; and three grandsons, Kendrick Vogt, Keenan Abraham, and Phillip O'Bryant. 

Mrs. Adgerson leaves to cherish precious memories: two sons: Allen (Sandra) Adgerson of Santee, SC and Edward Adgerson of Orangeburg, SC; six daughthers: Ulandda (Ernest) Guess of Vance, SC, Valarie Sweat of Vance, SC, Linda Elmore of Orangeburg, SC, Patricia Adgerson of Augusta, GA, Gloria (Frank) Goolsby of Winston Salem, NC, and Diane Abraham of Orangeburg, SC; thirty-three grandchildren, 80 great-grandchildren, and 2 great great-grandchildren; three sisters, Ruby Smalls of Winston, Salem, NC, Mamie Goodwin of Winston Salem, NC, and Vernell Greene of Newark, NJ; an adopted granddaughter, Sheri Hill of Virginia Beach, VA; two special companions, Ms. Dorothy "Peppa" Brown aand Ms. Ellen Stewart; Homestead Hospice caregivers Pam and Teresa, along with a host of special nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. 

Family will be receiving mailed condolences at 390 Westberry Drive; Vance, SC 26163.
