Henry Johnson, Jr, the son of Henry Johnson and Sandra Jamison Johnson was born April 18, 1956 in Orangeburg County, South Carolina. Both parents preceded him in death. God who knows our beginning and our ending called him to eternal rest on Saturday, August 31, 2024 in Vance, South Carolina.
“Pop or PJ” as he was affectionately known, grew up and received his education in the public schools of Orangeburg County. During early adulthood, he accepted Christ in his life and joined Rock Hill A.M.E Church in Vance, South Carolina.
Pop or PJ was a kind hearted person always willing to lend a helping hand. His gift and career as a carpenter/general contractor allowed him to put his talents to work throughout the Lowcountry and Midlands. He also landed a few jobs outside of South Carolina. Many friends, neighbors and family were blessed by the hands of his skills and attention to detail as he performed his many works of art transforming homes into beautiful masterpieces and placing a smile on the customer’s face. He also had a sense of humor that was missed if you weren’t paying attention. Always lending a smile or joke to help get through life’s rough patches.
Fond memories will always be cherished by his family, friends, and love ones, wife, LaSonya Williams Johnson, of Gastonia, NC; daughter, Ka’Leah Johnson who he affectionally called “Worm”, “special” bonus son, Kimani Williams, bonus daughter, Brienne Williams and bonus son Elijah Williams of Gastonia, NC; daughter Geneva McCants (Jerome) of Hampton, GA, two sisters, Cheryl Johnson Benjamin of Columbia, SC and Betty Johnson-Pringle (George) of Orangeburg, SC; one bonus brother, Johnny Elmore of Vance, SC.
