He was preceded in death by his son, Ronald O'Neal Dixon; his mother, Mary Francis Thompson and father, George Thompson. Sr; brothers: Ronald Thompson; Darryl Thompson; and sisters: Beatrice Thompson; Vernetta Thompson and Druscilla Pettigrew.

GEORGE (BUBBA JIM) THOMPSON, JR., was born on July 2, 1954 to the late George, Sr. and Mary Francis Thompson in Orangeburg County. George became a member of Live Oak A.M.E. church at an early age and was a devoted member until he departed this life on June 18, 2020 at the TRMC in Orangeburg, SC.
George graduated from Roberts High School in 1972 . George was a hardworking man. He entered into the workforce at an early age and was employed at Wettaure Foods for 25 years in Charleston, South Carolina. He delivered newspapers for the Post and Courier for 10 years. He retired from AYP in Orangeburg, SC in 2008.
He leaves to cherish his memory: his wife, Vernita Dixon Thompson of the home; five children: Ryan Thompson, Shanita L. Thompson, Shanetta K. Thompson, and Shakeel Thompson of the home; one daughter: Latisha Dixon (Shamar) Thompson of Jersey City, NJ; six granddaughters: Kayla and Kimora Sweeney of Jersey City, NJ; Takaia Dixon, Morgan and Madison Thompson of Jersey City, NJ; Riley Thompson of the home; One grandson: Kamryn Sweeney of Jersey City, NJ; five sisters: Betty Fowler and Mary Jenkins of Eutawville, SC; Mary Snells and Sandra Thompson of Vance, SC; Darlene Jefferson of Santee, SC; and two brothers: David (Gloria) Thompson of Summerville, SC and Kenneth (Kathy) Shuler of Manning, SC; two sisters-in-law: Diane (Ronnie) Atkins, Justin (Thomas) Hall and one brother-in-law: Danny (Amanda) Dixon all of Jersey City, NJ; two aunts: Lurine Abraham and Barbara Gillard, two uncles; Nathaniel Jakes and Israel Jamison; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
