George Taste was born on January 17, 1932, to the late Lawrance and Almeta Lellar Tast in Eutawville, South Carolina formally known as "Stuck."
He grew up in Orangeburg County and attended school and "Stuck" up until third grade.
He was employed by Walworth Plantation caring for the horses until he could drive. At 13, he left South Carolina and started driving truck carrying horses from state to state for Mr. Eddie O'Brien. He also worked for Mr. Peter Grace for 50 years.
He attended and was a member of Greater St. Paul U.M. Church. In 1952, George married Bessie Beatrice Davis.
He was preceded in death by his mother and father; two sons, John Bob Taste and Charles Gillens; three brothers, Chris Taste, Ernest Taste, and Joe Louis Taste; five sisters, Mary Gaillard, Alice Sanders, Maggie Gathers, Geneva Washington, and Carrie Reed; and a son-in-law, Isaac Middleton.
George leaves to cherish fond memories: four daughters, Inez Middleton, Barbara (Fred) Simmons, Clearetha (Ernest) Burch, and Margaret (Jim Peter) Washington; eight grandchildren, Machel, Tasha, Aaron, Corry, Adreana, Jackie, Dorian, Eric and Acquindolyn; nine great-grandchildren; two surviving sisters, Amanda G. Frazier and Estelle J. (Paul) Brown; one brother, James (Beatrice) Taste; sisters and brothers-in-law, Harry and Estelle Davis, Leon and Shelia Davis, Carrie Bell Taiste, Richard Davis, Pearl Davis, Richardine Davis, Annie and Rev. Bruce Wright, Willete Sweeper, Lavern Young, and Julius Peter Gathers, Sr.; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
