Frank Washington Obituary

Mr. Frank Washington was born on September 8th, 1945 in Beaufort County, South Carolina. He was the son of the late Leila Washington and the late William Seabrook and the stepson of the late Alethia Seabrook. Frank departed his earthly life on June 28th, 2025, in Pompton Plains, New Jersey, surrounded by his loving wife and stepdaughter.

Frank was educated at Dale Elementary School in Dale, South Carolina and Robert Smalls Junior High School in Beaufort, South Carolina. Frank joined Second Celestial Baptist Church at an early age, and continued attending until he relocated to New York City as a teenager to continue his studies. At an older age, Frank became a member of Trinity United Methodist Church of Morrisania, located in the Bronx, New York. At Trinity United Methodist Church, Frank served on the Trustee Board, the Pastor Parish Committee, the United Methodist Men and he was the President of the Usher Board for several years. Frank was also the Head Cook for all church events, as well as the Helping Hand Soup Kitchen for the less fortunate.

Frank Washington worked for Metro-North Railroad in New York City in the Track and Structures Department. After 23 years of service, Frank retired on July 28, 2006 and returned to South Carolina where he lived in the city of Walterboro. Upon returning to South Carolina, Frank rejoined Second Celestial Baptist Church and he sang on the Male and Senior choirs. He was also one of the cooks at his church and at the Albany Grocery Store.

Frank met his beloved wife Regina Graham in New York, and they were married at the First Sharon Baptist Church in Harlem, New York on September 21, 2019. Mr. & Mrs. Washington then resided in Walterboro, South Carolina, and later moved to Holly Hill, South Carolina. Frank affectionately called their new home in Holly Hill, “The Ponderosa.”

He loved cooking and entertaining his family and friends at their home. Frank and Regina became members of Greater Target African Methodist Episcopal Church in Holly Hill, where Frank was active in the Lay Organization and the Men of Mission.

Frank loved cooking and attending church. He would prepare flavorful meals that he enjoyed sharing with his family and friends. Some of Frank’s specialties included Hoppin’ John, chitlins (chitterlings), sweet potato bread, and stuffing. He also participated in the Albany Seafood Fest by frying fish for attendees.
