Elder Leroy Powe, Jr. Obituary

Leroy Powe, Jr., Son of the late Mr. Leroy Powe, Sr. and Tommie Lee Huff, was born on July 5, 1937, in Camden, Alabama.  On Wednesday, June 23, 2021, he went home to be with the Lord.

As a child, he attended Coy Public Schools and Camden Academy. Leroy was united in holy matrimony to Roney Pearl Blanchard on May 22, 1972. This union was blessed with seven children. He was predeceased in death by his son, Leroy, and daughters, Beverly and Yvonne.

He held an unwavering faith in God throughout his entire life, which he shared with those who surrounded him. He believed in Holiness being the right way to live. Throughout his tenure in the ministry, Leroy was ordained a Deacon in the Bible Church of Christ in Bronx, NY, then later ordained an Elder. Working faithfully under the leadership, God moved on his heart to start a ministry of his own and became the pastor of Greater Life Gospel Temple in Bronx, NY. The anointing destroyed yokes, and many were saved and filled with the Holy Ghost under his ministry.

After working in ministry, Leroy retired after 40 years of driving a tractor-trailer. He moved his family from New York to Summerville, South Carolina. Being a dedicated and loving father, Leroy also enjoyed fishing. He spent countless time with family and found himself studying and preaching the Word of God.

Elder Leroy Powe Jr leaves to cherish his precious memories his wife of 49 years, Roney and his children, Calvin (Maxine), Michelle, Stacy (Wendy), and Joseph; 15 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; his sister Ella (Douglas); and a host of nieces and nephews.
