Elder Kerelene Moore Obituary

Kerelene Simmons Moore was born March 14, 1928, in Hardeeville, SC to the proud parents of Elias Simmons and Viola Norton Simmons. She attended the public school system in Jasper County, S.C.

Kerelene was adventurous. Her desire was to leave the farm life in hopes of being able to take her parents from their impoverished lifestyle. As a teenager, Kerelene gave her life to the Lord under the tutelage of Rev. Johnny Simmons of St. Phillip Baptist Church in Hardeeville, SC. She later moved her membership to the ministry of Bishop Richard Jones.

To give her daughter a better life, in 1961 they moved from Hardeeville, SC and made Savannah, GA their home. Kerelene found work at the local bakery on Bay Street, The Rib Shack and Red Lobster Inc. where she retired in 1990.

Kerelene was ready to serve the Lord without interruption and joined Followers of Christ Church under the late Rev. Roosevelt Scott. She was a prayer warrior and worked in various roles in the church. She would always say to her sister Geraldine, Her side kick, her hangout partner, "I'm going to serve the Lord until I die, therefore if you want to hangout meet me at church." Later, she joined the West Broad Seventh-Day Adventist Church. There she served as the president of prayer band, Elders Board, Deaconess, Board, and Chorales Choir Member. She loved her Church wans worked diligently telling the world about the goodness of Jesus Christ.

Kerelene raised 5 generations of children from infancy. Financially she didn't have much, but somehow, she took great care of her grands, countless nieces and nephews and she didn't SPARE THE ROD. We thank God for this beautiful Woman of God for her fervent prayers and her good works.

Elder Moore was predeceased by her parents, husband Gilbert Moore, brother Elias Simmons, sisters Catherine Jackson, and Geraldine Ferrell, niece Brenda Gail Harden who was her dedicated and loving caregiver, 2 additional nieces, a grandnephew, a grandniece and a great grand daughter.
