Elder Donald Collier Obituary

Elder Donald Collier, affectionately known to family and friends as “ Hezekiah,” who was a brother,  father, grandfather, uncle, and cousin of Brooklyn, NY, by way of Holly Hill, SC, was the “Corner Stone” of the Collier/Walters/Oliver family. Donald’s transition of life was peaceful on the morning of Friday, April 24, 2026, from extended illness at Interfaith Medical Center in Brooklyn, NY. Donald was born on September 15, 1950, to the late Robert Oliver, the late Mattie Mae Collier-Walters, and the epitome father, the late John Albert Walters, in Vance, SC. Donald was the eldest of 27 siblings, not only the eldest, he was the epitome of a father to his siblings, which he was greatly loved by his brothers, sisters, cousins, nieces, and nephews, as they would call him “Uncle Donald” or “Unc.”

Donald grew up in Holly Hill, SC, his early education allowed him to be educated at the elementary, middle, and Roberts High School in Holly Hill, SC.

Donald at an early age worked with his epitome father and epitome grandfather, Reverend David Walters, Sr., as a sharecropper and farmer. As life progressed into his early teens, Donald worked alongside his uncle, the late Deacon Leon Gilliard, at Four Whole Mills Company in Holly Hill, SC until he moved to New York City with his uncle the late Robert Walters, Sr., after a brief stay with family, it was then that Donald made connections with his biological father, and Elousie, The matriarch of the Oliver family, and siblings in New Jersey.

Later on in his life, he moved back to New York City. Donald worked as a Cab driver, and later, after going to trucking school, after completion, he then became a cab driver for Paddle wagon Moving Company of Bronx, NY. This adventure allowed him to travel all over the United States of America until his health caused him to retire in 2022.

Upon Donald’s return to New York City, it was then that he met and married the late Janice Outlaw. The union was blessed with two sons and one daughter.

Hezekiah, as he was affectionately known, joined Briner Christian Church and was baptized at an early age.

Donald later in life joined New Life Cathedral, under the leadership of Archbishop Robert Rochford, Senior Pastor, in Brooklyn, New York, in the year 2004, where he served faithfully and committed to serving the ministry wholeheartedly with his labor. He was ordained as a “Deacon” in the Lord’s church on August 7, 2007. He served in the capacity of ministry of Community Care and Concern Evangelism, the Men’s Choir, and the Media Ministry, operating the church cameras during services.

During COVID Pandemic, God led the Apostle Dr. Gaynell Walters to start a family prayer conference line on Thursday night of May 5, 2020, which Donald became very excited to participate in with his family. He led the prayer ministry, music ministry, and ministered the word of God as the Holy Spirit gave him utterance. When God elevated the prayer line to a conference ministry line on Sunday, he began to participate in the services at 12 noon every Sunday. He really enjoyed bringing to the ministry what God has done and what God was doing in his life.

Donald became a family member of Christ Is in Control Church Ministries in 2021, where he was faithful and dedicated to serving in the capacity of Elder. After his health and illness caused him to decline while in the rehabilitation facility, God began using Elder Collier to minister to the residents and staff where he was being treated. The staff and residents began to proclaim him as their “Pastor” and “Bishop” in February 2023 through March 2026. Elder Donald Collier, upon his request to become a member of Briner Christain Church (DOC), his petition was made on Tuesday April 14, 2026, by way of facetime, he responded to the questions asked; by Amelia Collier, who is the spply preacher at Bringer Christian Church (DOC), with the proper protocol and approval of the church board, Elder Collier was accepted as an away member of the church on April 20, 2026 in Holly Hill, South Carolina.

Donald was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Oliver, Mattie Mae Collier-Walters, his epitome father John Walters; Eight brothers, Baby Boy Walters, Johnny Walters, Sr., Bobby J. Walters, Danny B. Walters, Robert L. Oliver, Jerome Oliver, Ronald Oliver, and Marshall Oliver; two sisters, Eula Margaret Walters and Linda Jean Walters-Jenkins-Gethers.

Donald leaves to cherish his most precious memories: his devoted sister, Apostle Dr. Gaynell Walters of the home;  his son, Eric Collier of Brooklyn, NY; his daughter, Donkique S. Collier of Baltimore, MD; two granddaughters, Shanice Collier of Saint Petersburg, FL and Ayanna Collier of Fort Lauderdale, FL; Nine sisters, Diana (Eugene) Young, Minister Barbara Oliver, both of Columbia, SC, Prophetess Annis Agard and Mary Oliver both of Newark, NJ; Robin Robinson and Brenda Buckman both of Lamar, SC, Selena Brown and Kareem Brown both of Newark, NJ; Seven brothers, Larry (Shirley) Walters, Elder Willie (Brenda) Walters, Bruce W. Walters all of Winston-Salem, NC, Dea. James (Anita) Walters of Gaithersburg, MD, Carvin Holman-Walters of Columbia, David Smalls of Orangeburg, SC, and Nathanial Oliver of Newark, NJ; Eight aunts, Jessie B. Small and Dorothy M.  Middleton both of Holly Hill, SC, Jessie M. Oliver of Santee, SC, Bertha Taylor and Deloris Taylor both of Boston, MA, Mary Ravenell of Charlotte, NC and Vernell Baker of Eutawville, SC; two uncles, Ernest Walters of Loris, SC and Richard (Priscilla) Taylor of Holly Hill, SC; two brothers-in –law, Jerome Outlaw of Staten Island, NY of New York; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and many well-loved friends, and tow honorable mention “God’s sent Angels,” Mother Eunice Miller and Mother Sybil Francis both of Brooklyn, New York.

Donald was a devoted and loving father and grandfather. He was a compassionate brother and a loyal friend to many. He was known for his kindness, generosity, and support. He was always there for those around him in need. His warm heart and gentle spirit touched the lives of all who came to know him, and his presence will be deeply missed.
