The late Brother Tom M. Bennett was born on March 29, 1935, to the late Frank Coy Bennett and Daisy L. Wright Bennett. He was raised in the Stutch Section of Eutawville, where he developed a lifelong love for farming. He later relocated to Queens, New York, where he worked in construction and founded Bennett and Sons, creating opportunities for many.
In 1974, he was ordained as a deacon at Second Tabernacle Baptist Church in New York. He later served faithfully at Hickory Hill Missionary Baptist Church and, after returning to Cross, SC, became a devoted member of Unity Missionary Baptist Church, where he served and sang faithfully.
A strong, faithful, and compassionate man, Tom loved his family deeply and instilled lasting values in his children. He celebrated his 90th birthday on March 29, 2025.
On April 6, 2026, Tom was called home to glory. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers: June, Joe, Robert (Ben), and Frank Jr. Bennett; daughters: Terry and Diane Bennett; and sons: Robert Lee and Carl Bennett.
Tom leaves to cherish his loving memories; his daughter: Saconda Bennett and grandson: Jahahn Bennett of the home (Cross, SC); siblings: Johnny Bennett of Cross, SC; Henry (Rachel) Bennett of Columbia, SC; Martha Bennett of Bronx, New York; Leon Bennett of Cross, SC; children: Thomasina Ferguson of Queens, New York; Daisy Taste of Atlanta, GA; Tom Ferguson Jr. of Seattle, WA; Greg (Veronica) Bennett of Summerville, SC; Timmie (Yvonne) Bennett of Atlanta, GA; Sharon Bennett of North Charleston, SC; and Roslyn (Basiel) Blackwood of New Jersey; 21 grandchildren; 36 great grandchildren; 10 great great grandchildren; a host of special nieces, nephews, family & friends.
He shared memories with Hazel Ferrond-Bennett of New Jersey, along with children: DJ, Tanya, and Pam.
