David Lee Vogt

Our Community lost a devoted and loving husband, father, and grandfather on November 19, 2020 due to a brief illness. Mr. David Lee Vogt was born on March 23, 1949, to the late Mr. James Glen Vogt, Sr. and Mrs. Josephine McKune Vogt in Vance, SC. He is preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Gregory, James (Margaret), and William (Joanne).

David Lee grew up in Vance and attended public schools of the area. He began his career in construction for Banks Construction Company and retired from Sanders Brothers Construction, Charleston, SC after thirty-five years of service. 

In 1967, David Lee was joined in holy matrimony to Dorothy Jefferson. To this beautiful, life-long union, six children were born; Audrey (Bertrum) Joseph (Vance, SC), Glennis Vogt Solomon (Columbia, SC) Taveon Jaguar Vogt (MD), Dana Vogt (GA), Inith R. Jacques (Vance, SC) and Rena Jenkins (PA).

He leaves to cherish his fond memory his loving wife:Dorothy and his children; two grandsons he raised as his own Brandon Brown and Donovan Jamison; nineteen grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren; special sister-in-laws Catherine Miller (Vance, SC), Joyce (David) Henderson, and Lily Mae Jefferson; a special brother-in-law Lawrence Randolph; five sisters, Estelle (Frank) Gadson (Queens, NY), Patricia (Kent) Rogers (Chapin, SC), Josephine Guess (Holly Hill, SC), Catherine (Steven) Berner (Covington, GA), & Gardenia (William) Barnes (Bowman, SC); three brothers, Danny (Mary) Vogt (Queens, NY), Charlie (Darlene) Vogt (Saratoga, NY), & Whittaker (Joyce) Vogt (Holly Hill, SC); three aunts Eula Baker (Vance, SC), Earnestine Rouse (FL), and Mariah (Sammy) Washington (NY); two uncles: Sammy Fogle (FL) and Jacob Frost (Holly Hill), and a host of nephews, nieces, other relatives and friends.
