David Lamar King II, “Damien,” 44 of Holly Hill, SC, entered eternal rest on August 28th, 2025. He was born on November 30th, 1980, in Charleston, SC, at the Medical University of South Carolina. David was the beloved son of Carolyn and David King. Those who knew him will remember him for his quiet strength, sharp wit, and deep devotion to his family.
David began his education in Charleston before moving with his family to Holly Hill at a young age. There, he attended Holly Hill Middle School and proudly graduated from Holly Hill Roberts High School with the class of 1999. David furthered his education at South Carolina State University, earning a bachelor's degree in psychology in 2003. He later pursued training at Orangeburg Calhoun Technical College, where he obtained his CDL license. David owned and operated Kings Transport for approximately five years and later worked for US Services for the last ten years.
David accepted Christ at an early age and was a member of Hill Zion Baptist Church, where he was baptized and dedicated his life to Christ. His faith remained a guiding light throughout his life. David‘s favorite scripture to quote was Psalm 23.
In 2008, David embraced his most cherished role, fatherhood, welcoming his son Davin King, whom he loved deeply and wholeheartedly. David leaves behind a legacy through his beloved son.
He is preceded in death by David Lamar King (father), Emma Mae Smith and Rena Randolph (grandmothers), Willis Middleton (grandfather), Mary Gilliard (grandmother) and Josiah White (grandfather).
David also leaves behind his mother: Carolyn King; sister: Fanta Cannon; brother: Kenny King; extended family includes his aunts: Eula Grogan, Missy Gilmore, Doris Hoyte, Laurine Houston, Janette Nelson, Luthann Litman (Thomas), and Ellen Randolph (Adam); uncles: Olin Randolph (Mae), Walter Randolph, John Randolph (Lourenca), Terry Richburg (Celia), Jerry Smith, Anthony Smith, and Edward White; in addition, a host of loving cousins, best friend Tony Fuller, countless friends and former companion, Jalisa Clark (Aniya).
Though David is no longer with us in the body, his spirit endures as an eternal reminder of love, strength, and joy that will be carried in our hearts forever.
