Caroline Elmore Obituary

When tomorrow starts without me and I’m not here to see,

family stick together and the day will come when we shall meet!

If we had a flower for every time we think of you, we could walk in our own
garden forever. We celebrate the life of Caroline W. Elmore, the daughter of the
late Ulysses Sr. and Lottie Mae Washington. Caroline was born on January 28,
1958, in Holly Hill, SC and the Lord called her home on May 23, 2024, at MUSC
Health, Orangeburg, SC.
Caroline grew up in Holly Hill, SC, and attended the public schools of Orangeburg
County. She admired and took the liking to culinary arts. Her love and passion
were displayed in every dish that she cooked.
Caroline was a devoted mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. The love that
she had for her family was unconditional. Her kindness and compassion made an
impact on everyone she met. Her family was her heart and showing them love in
her cooking made her smile. She could cook any dish, but she was known for her
specialty, macaroni and cheese. She was a do-er when it came to cooking, doing
whatever it took to perfect every dish. Her grandchildren meant the world to her,
and she called all of them her Boobies. In her free time, Caroline loved listening to
a variety of music, and she loved dancing, for this kept her young at heart.
She was preceded in death by her parents: Ulysses Sr. and Lottie Mae Washington;
and two brothers: Ulysses Washington, Jr. and Ervalee Washington.
She leaves to cherish her loving memories, her three daughters, whom she loved
with all her heart: Luciana Elmore, of the home, Tawanna (Ashley) Gilliard, and
Sikenya Elmore, all of Holly Hill, SC; three sisters: Elaine James, Alice Walker,
and Linda Washington, all of Holly Hill, SC; two brothers: Joseph Goodwin, of
Holly Hill, SC and Brian Bradley, of North Charleston, SC; six grandchildren:
Sheake Gilliard, Deondre’ Williams, Brandon Gilliard, De’Adrain Williams,
Armani Williams, and Shawn’ya Elmore; ten great-grandchildren; and a host of
nieces, nephews, and friends, whom will miss her dearly. Caroline, you will be
forever in our hearts and missed, until we meet again.
